DAPP Zambia Currently Recruiting: Finance Director – September 2017


Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) is inviting suitably qualified and experienced persons to apply for the position as the Finance Director for the organisation.

DAPP is a local registered NGO and has been operating in Zambia for over 27 years. The organisation works in all the 10 provinces and reaches over 1 million people with development projects employing over 1000 staff. The activities span from the economic strengthening of families, HIV prevention, care and support to those infected and affected by the virus, environment, education and more.

The Financial Manager is responsible for the oversight of all DAPP Zambia’s financial operations and economic status.

The Finance Director will directly supervise the Finance Controller as well as the 4 Finance Managers. He/she will oversee the operation of large and small projects which are presently funded by 12 partners including USAID, CDC, GRZ, WFP, EU and private sector organisations.

Detailed responsibilities include:

Financial Operation

  • Lead the accounting department
  • Ensure that all operational functions are effectively coordinated- finance and accounting, operations, and IT functions
  • Develop and maintain current appropriate standard operating procedures (SOPs) to document roles and responsibilities in areas of finance and accounting, IT and operations
  • Advise management in annual and ongoing budgeting (DAPP Association and projects)
  • Establish, monitor and enforce financial policies and procedures
  • Set up Chart of Accounts in each Project/Unit
  • Ensure that monthly routines are carried out in a timely manner
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and partner regulations
  • Lead capital procurement, asset valuation and management as well as related requirements associated with inventory accounting

Audits & Assessments Prepare and take charge of all financial audits, both statutory and partner specific

  • Make Terms of reference in connection with Partnership audits
  • Maintain the communication with the Auditor
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports according to the partners’ requirements.
  • Be part of all assessments in connection with partnership agreements.
  • Direct quarterly internal audits
  • Present annual audited financial statements to the management and the Board
  • Liaise with the Humana People to People International Office of Compliance and Internal Audit;

The position is based in Ndola where the project has its headquarters.

Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Finances or CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent;
  • More than 5 years experience with Financial Management in a large or mid-size NGO or equivalent;
  • Experience in financial reporting to mayor donors such as USAID and EU;
  • Experience in financial control and management reporting experience
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a diverse accounting team
