The Council of the Kwame Nkrumah University (KNU) a public university invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the following positions;
DEAN OF STUDENTS
JOB PURPOSE: Responsible for leading and managing non-academic
and social welfare services for students of the
University.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- To ensure effective implementation of students and regulations.
- To monitor the allocation of hostel accommodation rules
- To direct and monitor individual or group counselling or advisory services.
- To preside over the administration of students’ social activities.
- To advise Management on matters pertaining to student governance.
- To ensure proper coordination of sports, socio-cultural, recreation and extracurricular activities for students.
- To coordinate planning and implementation of the Unit budget, and ensures prudent utilization of financial and physical resources.
- To ensure that hostels are well maintained, including sanitary facilities.
- To enforce discipline in accordance with the Student Disciplinary Code of conduct.
- To supervise subordinate staff and ensure that performance appraisal is conducted for all staff in the Unit.
- To direct the preparation of quarterly and annual operational performance reports.
QUALIFICATIONS AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
A. ESSENTIAL
- Must have a full Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate with at least 5
- Credits that must include the English Language.
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Counselling or
- Education or any other relevant field.
- Must have a Master’s degree in social sciences, Counselling or
- Education or any other relevant field.
- Must have a minimum of 5 years practical relevant experience at senior management level.
- Must be computer literate.
- Not less than 35 years of age.
- High-level skills in both oral and written presentations.
- Emotional stability and ability to balance the requirements of different stakeholders of the University.
- Must have good interpersonal skills.
- Integrity, honesty, ethical values, professional conduct and soberness of character are mandatory requirements.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Employment. shall be on a fixed-term basis for a period of three (3) years but renewable upon satisfactory performance and at the discretion of management.
