Responsibilities

  • To manage the day to day running of the dispatch operations of the Logistics department meeting customer expectations at all times while ensuring safety, legal and environmental requirements are adhered to
    Design and manage dispatch schedules in order to meet customer requirements
  • Ensure the dispatch function of the business operates within the set business processes and control processes
  • Ensure that all the safety aspects (Safe Load Management) in regard to the contracted and self-collect fleet are adhered to at all times while on site
  • Design (in liaison with the Sales Manager
  • Customer Service Manager and Fleet Manager) and manage loading and dispatch schedules and Safe Journey Management
  • In liaison with Fleet Manager ensure appropriate route planning is applied making delivery rounds as efficient as possible whilst considering the requirements of the customer
  • Ensure legal compliance is adhered to with regard to transport and driver regulations
  • Manage relationships with key customers where deliveries are going and meet their expectations bagged and bulk Schedule road trucks and bulk tankers and rail wagons for out – bound freight of all cement purchased on delivered service and dispatched to various customers outside and along the line of rail
  • Schedule road trucks and bulk tankers and rail wagons for in bound freight of all plant supplies of Gypsum, Clinker, Coal and other purchased materials
  • Ensure that the loading and unloading schedules are communicated to transporters

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, Business and in Logistics & Transport (CILT)
  • Three years working experience in dispatch and logistics in an industrial set up or related industry, Prior Dispatch, freight & logistics experience preferred
  • Proficient in MS Windows, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with high degree at accuracy and attention to details
