Denys Engineers and Contractors is a private registered company that has been engaged by Millennium Challenge Account Zambia (MCA-Zambia) to undertake a Government project that intends to support the Lusaka Water Supply, Sanitation and Drainage Project. The project involves the execution of the Core Water Supply Network and Backbone Rehabilitation in Lusaka (CP 1 & 2) in conjunction with Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company.

The Health and Safety Officer works under the Quality, Health, Social and Environmental (QHSE) Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervised by the Health and Safety Manager.
• Is involved in risk analysis and understands the hazards and risks.
• Inspects and assists in matters pertaining to the Health and Safety Department.
• Realizes work inspections.
• Fixes the Health and Safety issues directly on the ground if it is possible.
• Provides all site information to the Health and Safety Manager.
• Coaches the workers on site about Health and Safety.
• Explains directly on the ground to the communities, the risks on the site and rules to follow.
• Inspects subcontractor’s worksites on a weekly basis to confirm compliance with the Health and Safety Management Plan (HSMP) and other contractual and Legal requirements.
• Perform any other duties as and when assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications:

• Diploma in Health and Safety
• Total work experience: 3-5 years of corporate experience
• Similar work experience: 3 years
