Deputy Vice Chancellor Job: ZCAS


Reporting to: Vice-Chancellor

Purpose of Job:

Assist the Vice-Chancellor in the planning, implementation, monitoring and controlling institutional academic activities.

Main Responsibilities

  • Participate in the formulation/review of academic policies and preparation /review of academic work manuals and procedures and related documentation.
  • Working with the Vice-Chancellor to develop institutional and professional capacities to enhance the provision of quality and relevant university education and training (including Continuous Professional Development).
  • Monitoring the implementation of ZCAS Strategic Plan with regard to academic programmes to ensure achievement of the intended short and long-term goals.
  • Spearheading and coordinating the implementation of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes through Deans of school.
  • Supervision of quality assurance in teaching and learning in all undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
  • Monitoring and supervision of University-wide research and research outcomes, through assessment of national as well as international impacts.
  • Promoting academic programmes and fostering a network of relationships with other higher educational institutions worldwide.
  • Superintending over Deans of school in their execution of duties.
  • Ensuring that required accreditation to all regulatory bodies is complied with by the University.
  • Performing duties of the office of the Vice-Chancellor in his/her absence.
  • Performing such other duties as may be assigned by the Vice-Chancellor.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12 Certificate with five 5 credits or better including English and Mathematics.
  • Holder of an earned authenticated PhD/DBA, Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Accounting, Banking,
  • Business, Education, Finance. Law, or ICT from accredited Universities.
  • Academic leadership qualities and a good record of personal achievement in both teaching and research.
  • Evidence of mobilization and management of Research grants.
  • Demonstrablc analytical, administrative and financial management abilities.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience at senior management level in a University/research institution.
  • Demonstrable experience in resource mobilization.
