BCP is a leading African conservation company that aims to generate sustainable conservation finance through the forest carbon markets. We are working with community and government partners to help improve the conservation management of over 1 million hectares of globally significant wildlife habitats in Zambia and to benefit 170,000 people. Most of the project areas are located in Game Management Areas bordering strategic National Parks in Eastern and Lusaka Province, governed by management agreements between local communities, the Government of Zambia, and BCP.

The Eco-Charcoal Manager (ECM) directs and coordinates activities, such as the production and procurement, and the sales and marketing of the BCP Trust Eco-Charcoal Pilot Project, producing sustainable charcoal products, through the Charpreneurs, to improve household income through alternative livelihood initiatives and aids in unlocking a profitable business in future.

PRIORITIES THAT WE’LL TRUST YOU WITH.

  • Participates in formulating and administering company policies, directing and coordinating all divisional department activities to develop and implement long-term goals and objectives to meet business and profitability growth objectives.
  • Reviews analyses of activities, costs, operations and forecast data to determine progress toward stated goals and objectives with the assistance of the BCP Finance department.
  • Confers with the Chief Operating Officer and other administrative personnel to review achievements and discuss required changes in goals or objectives resulting from current status and conditions under this project.
  • Develops for review with the intent to update and implement business strategic planning, including sales, financial performance and product development.
  • Oversees production departments to review production and operating reports and resolve operational and facility problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays and to meet future growth.
  • Oversees key processes and performance reports, data and analysis.
  • Drive sales and assist with the design concepts for new or existing products or improvement to provide cost reduction, safety, customer requirements and market growth.
  • Reviews operations and plans to meet requirements for sales planning and to ascertain manufacturing or outsourcing requirements to develop new markets.
  • Reviews preparation of accounting analysis for budgetary planning and implementation, production efficiency, financial reporting, budgetary planning and submittal for capital expenditures. This will require assistance from BCP Finance department so your ability to liaise will be required.
  • Develop and implement an expansion plan in line with the growth trajectory to include forests on private land as well as expending the forests in existing areas of operations.

ALLIANCE BUILDERS WANTED.

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree, with a bias to Sales & Marketing
  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant work experience in a managerial role.
  • Proven record in Business and Sales & Marketing acumen.
  • Project Management skills with proven record and relevant skills and education.
  • Be able to work with rural communities and available to travel and be in the field during production.
  • Must have managed at least 5 employees and have done performance management improvement assessments with repor6ts.
  • Must have a strong commitment to conservation of wildlife habitats and protection of natural forests.
  • Strong written communication skills and a proactive communication style
  • The candidate must be flexible, possess a solid work ethic and commitment to outcomes.
  • Ability to establish effective working relations in a multicultural team environment.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in coordination with a team.
  • Strong teamwork skills, and the ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Computer skills required including full command of Microsoft applications.
  • The candidate must exhibit strong leadership skills.
    • The candidate must have good negotiation skills.
    • Clean driving license.
