Educational Advisor job in Zambia
The U.S. Mission in Zambia is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Educational Advisor.
Basic Function of Position
The incumbent provides clients with comprehensive, current and unbiased information, advice and counseling on educational opportunities in the United States and promotes advising services through advertising and outreach, including visiting host country schools, colleges and other organizations to discuss educational opportunities in the United States. S/He oversees the EducationUSA Zambia Program which works closely with promising students to compile exceptional applications by planning, organizing and implementing workshops and tutors students on taking strategic tests and essay writing skills. The incumbent assists in the coordination of Education and Cultural Affairs (ECA) Bureau’s education exchange programs and Mission outreach initiatives including the Fulbright and Humphrey fellowship programs, by disseminating information to local secondary schools, tertiary institutions and Embassy contacts in all ten provinces.

Qualifications Required
Applicants must address each required qualification listed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item. Failure to do so may result in a determination that the applicant is not qualified.
1. EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in education, social sciences, counseling, public relations, liberal arts, or teaching is required.
2. EXPERIENCE: Two years’ experience in marketing, education, public relations, business administration, community service, or counseling with presentation and training duties is required.
3. LANGUAGE: Level IV (fluent) English is required. (This will be tested.)
4. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of the American educational system and university application process, and a grasp of American customs and culture are required. Ability to understand and express the value of an American education and cross-cultural exchange is also required.
5. JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must be capable of communicating complex ideas to large audiences through exceptional presentation and technological skills, be able to plan all aspects of information and outreach programs, including for rural trips and online communication. Excellent social skills are required including cultural sensitivity and professional demeanor to encourage interaction with students, scholars and professionals are required.
6. Excellent computer skills using the Microsoft Office suite to include Excel and PowerPoint are required.
