Zambia National Commercial Bank Plc (Zanaco) is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the following job aimed at contributing to the Bank’s strategic vision, in the Operations Division under the Payments & Loan Centre Department at Head Office:
TRADE FINANCE COORDINATOR (X1)
JOB PURPOSE
To process trade services transactions, ensure efficiency and effectiveness of operations in accordance with sound financial management principles and relevant internal guidelines.
Under the supervision of the Trade Services Specialist, the following are among the job key responsibilities:-
  • Processing Letters of Credit, inward documentary collections and guarantees according to Universal Customs and Practice (UCP) guidelines.
  • Maintain and update the register of Letters of Credit (LCs) documentary collections and guarantees.
  • Record guarantees issued in the seals’ register and have guarantees sealed.
  • Obtain customers’ signature verifications from branches in custody of such accounts.
  • Examine LCs’ drawing documents for discrepancies and notify the same to the applicants.
  • Collect establishment fees or commissions on trade products.
  • Process amendments and perform availments to LCs in the system.
  • Scan and email copies of LCs issued or amended to the applicants.
  • Forward drawing documents to applicants and collection documents to drawers.
  • Attend to and liaise with Transaction Services, audit, and reconciliation teams to resolve queries.
  • Respond to swift queries from correspondent banks.
  • Prepare monthly letters of credit reports, listings and returns and reconcile the same to the General Ledger.
  • Prepare a report on the outstanding balance for internal monitoring.
  • Ensure that the internal procedures and controls are adhered to.
  • Any other responsibilities as may be assigned by management.

  • External: Correspondent banks, Customers, SWIFT
  • Internal: All divisions
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Grade 12 Credit or above mandatory in Mathematics and English and any other three subjects.
  • Diploma/Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or any other related field.
  • Diploma in Banking is an added advantage.
  • At least two to three (2-3) years working experience.
  • One-two years experience working in a bank is an added experience.
  • Membership of the Financial Markets Association (ACI).
