Energy Engineer job in Zambia
The Copperbelt Energy Corporation PLC (CEC) is an independent power transmission and distribution company with interests in closely linked businesses in Zambia and the African region, including optic fibre based telecommunications.
CEC is inviting applications from suitably qualified, innovative and dynamic individuals to take up the following position.
Job Purpose
To develop and maintain energy accounting systems to ensure that all the power purchased and sold by CEC is accurately accounted for.
Key Accountabilities
• Develop short and long range forecasts in respect of CEC’s power sales purchases and wheeling to facilitate business planning and meet requirements under the Bulk Supply Agreement (BSA) and such similar requirements.
• Produce monthly forecasts of load profiles for each mine.
• Play a key role in analysing data pertaining to customer use of the system and power consumption trends to enable management to make informed decisions.
• Participate and support preparation of customer bills to ensure these are received by customers within agreed time scales.
• Follow up trend payments in liaison with other relevant departments.
• Provide backup information to system Network Development Engineers in respect of new business opportunities.
• Participate in customer liaison activities to ensure requirements of both existing and potential customers are well taken care of and that CEC’s services are well understood by all categories of customers.
• Market CEC services in the region. Facilitate the coming on board of new mining customers and obtain such information as their envisaged power demand, power plans, megawatts, energy load factor, etc. for infrastructure development planning.
• Participate in making power supply agreements with new customers specifying chargeable tariffs, penalties for under or over declaration, etc.
• Follow safe work practices, and report all health, safety and environment risks, hazards and incidents.
• Perform any other tasks assigned by management from time to time.
Qualifications and Experience
• Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Relevant qualification in Energy Management, Statistics and Power Systems.
• 4 years practical engineering experience.
• Should have managerial, physical, computational, oral and written skills.
• Computer literate and fully conversant with Microsoft Office package.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision.
