Job Title: National Road Engineers
Responsibilities
The 2 specialists will support the vulnerability assessment of the transport sector and identify options for flexible transport modes (Activity 1); participate in delivery of training on vulnerability in the transport sector and adaptation options and revised guidelines and tools for transport design and planning (Activity 2); support the review of design and maintenance practices for climate change adaptation in the transport sector, supervise in the field the pilot projects in the Barotse and Kafue two sub-basins, provide input to methodologies that may be used for national and local level design guidelines and climate screen of upcoming road infrastructure investment projects (Activity 4); and provide input to output performance road contracts to include climate resilience works (Activity 5).
Qualifications
  • Civil and environmental engineering degree
  • Six years of working experience working in transport infrastructure design, planning, and implementation
  • Experience from implementation of road maintenance contracts
  • Member of a professional body such as the Engineering Institution of Zambia (E.I.Z) and registered to practice by an appropriate body such as the Engineers Registration Board (E.R.B)
  • Have a good understanding and experience of the various climate change challenges facing Zambia including the country’s ability to cope with these challenges
  • Good written and spoken communication skills in English
