Finance Manager Job at Development Aid from People to People (DAPP)


A locally registered and managed Zambian organization, DAPP implements development projects across all provinces of Zambia. DAPP’s programmes focus on health, education, HIV and AIDS prevention and care, community development, food security and agriculture. The organization works in close cooperation with the Government of Zambia and with local and international partners to secure improved living conditions for communities and individuals. Responsibilities

  • Creates and manages the chart of accounts for the Project, approved by DAPP in Zambia management
  • Ensures timely and accurate book keeping of the Project’s accounts
  • Oversees cash and bank reconciliations of the Project’s accounts
  • Oversees cash flow management
  • Ensures that budgets are prepared and approved in time
  • Oversees payroll for staff in the project
  • Oversees asset management
  • Ensures that payments and requests are done in adherence to the established levels within the Project
  • Ensures timely preparation and review of monthly status
  • Ensures that financial reports are prepared at all Project levels
  • Prepares final accounts
  • Ensures timely and accurate financial reporting to the Partners
  • Ensures compliance with requirements in contracts, guidelines and instructions made in any other way by the partners
  • Responsibilities under NHQ
  • Checks and approves postings done by Project Accountants
  • Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports
  • Prepares work papers and supporting schedules for the annual financial review
  • Coordinates monthly closing process and reconciliation of general ledger accounts
  • Ensures timely preparation and review of monthly statuses on all partnerships
  • Ensures timely and accurate financial reporting to the Partners
  • Works with both internal and external auditors during financial and operational audits

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Accountancy degree or equivalent
  • Extensive knowledge of financial accounting packages such as PASTEL, SUN, AccPac, QuickBooks
  • Membership of the Zambia Institute of Certified Accountants (ZICA)
  • Four years post qualification experience
