Position: FINANCE MANAGER
Reports to: Executive Director
Duration: One year contract
Salary: K36, 000 p/a

About MHUNZA

Mental Health Users Network of Zambia (MHUNZA) is a non-governmental organization formed in 2000 and legally registered. Over the years MHUNZA has taken up the role of identifying the needs and priorities of persons with psychosocial disabilities, participating in the planning, implementation and evaluation of services and measures concerning lives of persons with psychosocial (mental health) disabilities and to contribute to public awareness and advocate for change.

The responsibilities

  • Overall professional responsibility for all aspects of financial management and control.
  • Effective financial reporting for MHUNZA, and for our funders, in a timely, accurate, relevant and informative manner.

Main Duties:

  • Performing day-to-day book-keeping, including weekly lodgements, analysis of credit/debit payments, petty cash, invoicing.
  • Performing monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Processing monthly payroll for national office.
  • Preparing monthly management accounts for the Senior Management Team.
  • Preparing quarterly management accounts for the Board, and annual budgets.
  • Preparing annual accounts/financial statements, ready for audit.
  • Preparing financial reports for funders.
  • Managing and overseeing the work of the Finance & Administration Officer.
  • Developing, amending and implementing, in consultation with the management.
  • Representing the organization in a positive and professional way, which promotes the vision, mission and strategic priorities of the organization.
  • Ensuring confidentiality and professional integrity is upheld at all times.
  • Being flexible, adaptable and available to take on other tasks or duties as required by the Organization.

Required qualifications

  • G12 and ZICA/ACCA or Equivalent qualifications.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role managing finance (accounting, budgeting, control and reporting), preferably with experience of the community and voluntary sector and/or NGO sector.
  • Age 30 and above
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational and IT skills. High level of competency in MS Word, MS Excel, accountancy (SAGE) and payroll software is essential.
  • Ability to multi-task
  • High levels of professionalism, innovation, energy, creativity and flexibility.
