General Manager – Irrigation Company

The General Manager shall report to the Board of Directors and shall have the following core responsibilities:

  • Strategic planning, financial planning and stakeholder/public relations, in order to maximize stakeholder value
  • Overall planning and day to day management of farming activities.
  • Ensuring that the farm is profitable and meets projected financial targets.
  • Maintaining accurate operational and financial records.
  • Oversight over farm infrastructure and related assets.
  • Securing competitive markets for the farms products
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with all key stakeholders including customers, suppliers and employees
  • Ensuring adequate operational and financial controls are in place to safeguard the assets of the company.
  • Designing and implementing effective staff training plans.
  • Ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations.
  • Undertaking relevant tasks as directed by the Board of Directors.

Minimum requirements:

  • Strong business acumen and a solid track record of managing a successful agricultural business at general management level
  • Must have managed an agricultural business as opposed to a project
  • Irrigation experience will be highly advantageous
  • Relevant qualification in agriculture and or business management
  • Strong financial management expertise
  • Strong operational management skills – staff and farming operations

Availability:  Immediate

Salary on offer:  K10,000 pm, no benefits
