INSPECTOR
General Nursing Council of Zambia (GNCZ) is a statutory body established in 1970 under the Nurses and Midwives Act No. 55 of 1970 with an express mandate to regulate nursing and midwifery education, training and practice. The Act was repealed and replaced by the Nurses and Midwives Act No. 31 of 1997, which redefined the functions of the Council and expanded the scope of practice for nurses and midwives.
The Council has 2 vacancies for the positions of inspector and is now inviting suitably qualified Zambians to apply and be considered for the positions. The positions are under the Regulation and Compliance Department, graded GNCZ 4 and will be reporting to standard and compliance specialist GNCZ 3.
JOB PURPOSE
To undertake the inspection of training institutions, nursing homes and agencies of health in order to ensure compliance to the set standards.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY (MAIN DUTIES)
KEY RESULT AREA
Inspections
- Undertakes effectively the inspection of nursing and midwifery health facilities in order to ensure compliance to set standards and regulations
KEY RESULT AREA
Reports
- Undertakes effectively preparation of inspection reports in order to facilitate informed decision making
KEY RESULT AREA
Database
- Undertakes effectively the maintenance of records on inspections in order to facilitate the storage and retrieval of information.
KEY RESULT AREA
Performance Management
- Undertakes effectively the development of work plans and implementation of the Annual Performance Appraisal System (APAS) in order to monitor and evaluate the performance
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
Primary/Secondary Education:
- Full-Form V or Grade 12 School Certificate or equivalent.
Minimum Vocational/Professional Qualifications:
- Degree in Nursing/Midwifery or equivalent
- Registered and licensed with the General Nursing Council of Zambia
Minimum Relevant Pre-Job Experience:
- 4 years
