Habitat For Humanity Zambia (HFH) is focused on eliminating poverty housing through providing simple, decent houses to families in need and to make shelter a matter of conscience and action.

In order to improve its staffing levels and attain organizational objectives, Habitat for Humanity Zambia wishes to invite all qualified candidates to fill the vacant position of Accounts Assistant to be based at the National Office in Ndola.

Social Worker

Job purpose

  • Conduct interviews and discussions with Community Leaders Community Workers / Social Workers and Community Groups, Caregiver and beneficiaries
  • Conduct physical inspection of housing units
  • Capturing data of housing units. Developing beneficiary households profiles before and after accessing an HFHZ house
  • Preparing beneficiary families to receive Global Village Teams, sponsors, donors etc that would work voluntarily on beneficiaries’ houses and work closely with Construction Supervisor and Global Village Coordinators to prepare construction sites.

Training of families

  • Training of care givers on inheritance rights and succession planning Community and capacity building
    Developing partnership models that encourage increased participation of communities in local development and planning
  • Assisting care givers and beneficiaries in securing legal title to individual plots of lands to ensure stability and security of beneficiary families

Reporting and information management

  • Inputting Data into  a comprehensive database of the vulnerable households and partners
  • Develop and provide comprehensive weekly and monthly, reports and ensure compliance with donor contractual obligations
  • Document lessons learnt from projects, challenges and any changes to the project design
    Advocacy
    Strengthening the voice of the vulnerable and care givers to influence regulations and decisions impacting their families M & E
  • Monitoring the social economic impact of housing and related services on beneficiary families.

Skills requirements

  • Ability to Plan and Manage projects
  • Experience in psycho-social counselling
  • Experience in community development
  • Valid Driver’s License a Must
  • Computer literate
  • Must be willing to travel extensively 70% to various project sites and willing to work long hours
  • Report Writing Skills a must
  • Good organizational, communication, and analytical skills a necessity
  • Working Experience in the NGO sector is an added advantage
  • Ability to deal with stress & meet deadlines
  • Any other duties assigned to you by your supervisor

Experience required

  • 1 year  working experience preferably in the NGO Sector

Educational requirement

  • Diploma, in Social Work or related field
