JOB OVERVIEW

The Head Chef/Kitchen Manager will be directly responsible for controlling and directing food preparation process from ordering/stock through to the end product providing high customer satisfaction. The Head Chef will supervise and direct the entire kitchen team and will assist the General Manager in the smooth running of the business to ensure high standards are achieved and in turn maximum profitability. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Complete handling/management of a high-end International & local cuisine restaurant kitchen, from menu creation to training, coordinating & monitoring
  • Running the kitchen and leading the team to deliver exceptional food, whilst ensuring maximum profitability
  • Working with the whole restaurant team to help deliver great times for our customers and taking absolute pride in the presentation and quality of food from your kitchen, ensuring the customer always receives an exceptional standard of food, and the food cost is in line
  • Able to delegate tasks to kitchen staff to ensure meals are prepared in a timely manner
  • Should be highly familiar with sanitation regulations and confident in implementing a procedure with kitchen staff members
  • Being an expert on our policies, processes and guidelines. Training your team on them and making sure the restaurant and kitchen are always hitting the mark
  • Responsible for inventory and stock control
  • Prepare and deliver a complete menu of the highest standards that delights our guests
  • Continuous menu adaptation is key
  • Being a people leader. Supporting the General Manager to attract, onboard, develop, inspire and retain the best Kitchen Staff in the industry, and everything else that comes with it from performance management to praise; ultimately ensuring you have a team of engaged and passionate staff
  • Being unbelievably passionate about our food, knowing the menu inside out, and training your team up to do the same
  • Other tasks & assignments as required

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Full Grade 12 certificate with five credits or better including English and Mathematics
  • At least three years working experience
  • Willing to relocate on the condition that accommodation will be provided
  • An ambitious individual, driven by 100% customer satisfaction
  • Absolute eye for detail and passionate about food quality
  • Knowledge of the highest standards of Health & Safety, hand in hand with Hygiene, and be able to implement this into the work place
  • Be a team player with the desire to develop yourself and those around you
  • A desire to excel in everything you do
  • Excellent stock and profit control
  • Hands on experience of preparing fresh food, on a cook to order basis, within a restaurant background
  • Hardworking, honest, truthful, achiever
  • Diploma in Food Catering or any related field
  • Previous Management skills will be an added advantage
  • A valid driving license will be an advantage
