Head of Treasury Job: Lafarge Zambia

Lafarge Zambia is looking to recruit a dynamic, motivated, and qualified individual to take up the role of Head of Treasury to be based in Chilanga.

Overall Job Purpose

To manage daily treasury operations such as financing, investment, foreign currency risk identification and hedging management in accordance with Group Treasury Policies

Main Responsibilities

1. Cash Management

  • Build cash forecasts of the business unit’s (BU) cash position and communicate to relevant
    parties in a timely manner.
  • Review cash needs against historical data and forecasts, and plan daily operational cash
    requirements for all BU locations.
  • Negotiate and implement short term bank facilities required to secure daily financing.
  • Optimize use of cash through centralized cash pooling.
  • Reconcile month-end closing treasury data to accounting figures and resolve any discrepancies with the Accounting Department.
  • Ensure correct documentation and filing of all financial transactions.
  • Define in local treasury procedures the rules to ensure that petty cash is handled in a secure manner.

2. Bank Relationship Management

  • Establish and maintain good professional relationships with authorized banks.
  • Regularly review terms and conditions with banks.
  • Ensure optimal number of bank counter parties and accounts to maintain control over all transactions and optimise costs.
  • Monitor service received against expectation and cost, and compare actual charges and conditions (interest, value dates, commissions) against negotiated ones.

3. Financial Risk Management

  • Regularly re-assess bank counter-party risk.
  • Identify and manage the hedging of foreign exchange and interest rate exposure according to the Group Treasury Policies.
  • Ensure that all Group Internal Control Standards related to treasury management are implemented and applied in compliance with the related local treasury procedures

4. Organization and People Development

  • Manage the BU’s Treasury team under his/her responsibility and develop their skills.
  • Ensure back up of Treasury function & data.
  • Contribute to the development of treasury knowledge in the other functions of the BU.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience/Skills

  • Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA) or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in treasury management.
  • Experience in budget management and control.
  • Understanding of risk management.
  • Very strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Attentive to detail
  • Good ethics and personal integrity
  • Must be a registered member of ZICA.
