The Health Professions Council of Zambia is a statutory regulatory body under the Ministry of Health with both statutory obligations to regulate the registration of health care facilities and health practitioners as well maintaining optimal standards of competence, care, and professional conduct. It was established under the Health Professions Act No. 24 of 2009. The Health Professions Act continues the existence of the Medical Council of Zambia which was established under the repealed Medical and Allied Professions Act. The mission of the Health Professions Council of Zambia is ‘to regulate the professional conduct of Public and Private Health practitioners and institutions in order to assure the provision of quality health services.’

The Council seeks applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill up the following position:

SENIOR EXAMINATIONS OFFICER X 01

Job Profile: To manages and undertake the administration of Licensure examinations for Health Practitioners in order to determine their competency to practice

Main Duties:

  • Manages and undertakes effectively the selection and supervision of examiners, invigilators, and markers in order to facilitate the conducting of Licensure examinations;
  • Manages and undertakes timely the registration of candidates for licensure examinations to ensure their eligibility and facilitate mobilization of logistics;
  • Manages and undertakes effectively the setting, printing, transporting and securing of examination papers in order to facilitate the holding of examinations;
  • Manages and undertakes effectively the identification, preparation, and security of examination centers in order to meet set standards for the examinations;
  • Manages and undertakes effectively the collation, printing, and publication of results in order to notify candidates of their performance;
  • Manages and undertakes effectively the development of individual and departmental work plan in order to monitor and evaluate performance;
  • Manages and undertakes effectively the monitoring and evaluation of the examination programmes in order to facilitate the identification and implementation of appropriate interventions; and
  • Manages and undertakes effectively human, financial and other logistical resources in the department in order to ensure the attainment of the departmental objectives.

Reporting relationship, Knowledge, and skills requirements:

  • Assistant Registrar – Examinations
  • Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences / Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Related Sciences
  • Postgraduate qualification in Medical education a MUST
  • Full Grade 12/ Form V School Certificate
  • HPCZ Full Registration and Valid practicing license for those with health-related qualification
  • HPCZ Latest Practicing Certificate for those with health-related qualification
  • Minimum of five (05) years’ work experience as a Health Practitioner
  • Teaching and conducting examinations is an added advantage
  • Goal-oriented and able to work independently to achieve results, as well as able to collaborate with a diverse team.
  • Excellent English language oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to write analytical and technical reports.
  • Computer literate and Knowledgeable of all accounting packages
