Project Description

The Millennium Challenge Account Zambia (MCA-Zambia) is implementing the Lusaka Water Supply, Sanitation and Drainage (LWSSD) Project to expand access to clean water supply and sanitation, and to improve drainage services in select urban and peri-urban areas of Lusaka. The Sanitation Connection Action Plan (SCAP) is a comprehensive plan designed to enable properties in Mtendere (a peri-urban area of Lusaka) to connect to the water and sewerage network. Mtendere contains over 9,400 properties, and 80% of these must connect to the water and sewer system for the benefits of LWSSD to be realized.

To achieve the connection levels required, SCAP will implement a package of interventions. A contract was issued to ID Insight to conduct formative research for SCAP and the interventions to be implemented. As part of this contract, ID Insight will collect data to support decision-making within the various intervention branches of SCAP.
