Information Technology (IT) Assistant job at American Embassy in Zambia – Deadline July 13


The U.S. Mission in Zambia is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Information Technology (IT) Assistant with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of the Information Systems Manager (ISM), the IT Assistant manages and processes incoming service desk requests
  • Incumbent provides day to day Information and Communications Technology (ICT) customer service and technical support to users on the local area network (LAN) by troubleshooting and resolving user problems with their workstations, Core Business Applications, Internet access, file and print services, automated installation services, cable, and telephone connectivity
  • The incumbent also performs Server systems administration functions such as creation and management of users and configuration of Blackberry devices, applications management, An Equal Opportunity Employer IP telephony and PBX
  • The incumbent conducts basic user training on application use such as MS Office Suite, Citrix, and the Intranet

Qualifications

  • Failure to do so may result in a determination that the applicant is not qualified
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics is required
  • Certification in Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems such as MCP, MCSA or MCITP is also required
  • Two years’ experience in providing front end ICT technical support including current Microsoft desktop operating systems and office suite and installation and configuration of third party applications such as Citrix client and use of Symantec Ghost for imaging PCs and laptops are required
  • Level IV (fluent) in English, (speaking, writing and reading) is required (This will be tested)
  • Incumbent’s technical skill is important, but the ability to relate with people in an effective way is critical
  • Must be courteous and able to communicate well with staff
  • Incumbent must be able to work independently as well as a member of a team
  • Must be able to work within set procedures and learn new technologies quickly
  • Incumbent must have advanced knowledge in IT administration and software including current MS Windows desktop operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Should be able to gather information and prepare reports using Word, Excel, and presentations using PowerPoint
