JOB TITLE:   DEVELOPER (01 POSITION)

Purpose: Responsible for planning, developing and maintaining systems for the Institute of Distance Education.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring successful implementation of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) projects in customer departments within available resources
  • Planning and Controlling data security and integrity and production of application software of high quality and professional standards.
  • Ensuring support for operating system software and application packages and in-house developed systems to ensure the systems are available for use by customers at all times.
  • Maintain effective communication and working relationships with customers, suppliers, and supervisors to ensure maximum benefit is derived from installed ICT resources.
  • Co-ordinate training courses and seminars and provide consultancy to customer departments so as to promote the exploitation of ICT facilities by user personnel.
  • Identify functions that require computerising and re-engineering existing computer or manual systems in order to enhance customer productivity through the application of ICT.
  • Keep abreast with ICT developments and general business practices in order to give appropriate guidance to customers in the application of ICTs.
  • Carry out Web Applications development.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 School Certificate.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Studies or ICT related field.
  • At least two (2) years’ relevant experience in systems analysis and design, server and microcomputer environment and knowledge of various software and utilities.
  • Knowledge of 3 and 4 GL, DBMS language, LINUS, Windows and Microsoft products will be an added advantage.
