Zambia Sugar Plc, is a subsidiary of Illovo Sugar Africa (Pty) Ltd Group, and is the leading sugar producer in Zambia. Its main activities are the growing of sugar cane, the production and marketing of sugar and other sugar downstream products.
The Company invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following positions on short Term Basis (four months contract):
INSTRUMENTATION TECHNICIAN (4 POSITIONS)
The position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. The successful candidate will be responsible for the selection, installation, set up, testing, fault finding, repairing, maintenance and commission instrumentation and control systems and equipment across all areas of Zambia Sugar.
Key performance areas
- Carrying out day to day instrumentation maintenance activities (troubleshooting, testing, adjustment, calibration, and preventive maintenance) on the factory in accordance with the maintenance schedules,
- Carrying out instrumentation plant checks
- Troubleshooting instrumentation equipment faults following standard maintenance procedures.
- Carrying out corrective maintenance on faulty factory instrumentation equipment.
- Ensuring that all instrumentation maintenance activities are carried out in compliance with the Zambian legislation and company procedures.
- Responsible for good housekeeping around the work area.
- Assessing availability of spares and flagging requirements timely for the area under his/her responsibility on an ongoing basis
- Completes daily activity feedback reports at the end of every shift.
- Execution of installation and commissioning tasks for any new systems, as identified under group automation plan.
- Fosters a spirit of cooperation between operators, technical staff and all other disciplines to achieve factory overall goals
- Coaching and mentoring of Artisans and Apprentices on instrumentation principles and practical maintenance techniques.
Minimum specifications / Requirements areas
- Grade 12 School Certificate
- Minimum of Advanced Technician Certificate in Instrumentation/Electronics or equivalent.
- At least 4 years working experience from a reputable Organisation.
- Extensive knowledge of field process instrumentation.
- Knowledge of correct and safe use of instrumentation related hand tools and test equipment.
- Competent in reading and understanding specifications, drawings, i.e understanding of PLC, OCS and HMI systems.
