International Labour Organisation (ILO) is a specialised agency of the United Nations. The ILO Office in Zambia was established in 1968 following an agreement signed between the Government of the Republic of Zambia and the International Labour Office. Originally, the Lusaka Office was responsible for eight countries in the Southern Africa region, namely: Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The office also organised and supported ILO assistance to liberation movements of South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe.
Job Title: National Project Coordinator NO-B (Ref. ILO/LUS/NPC/1/2017/EIIP/TC)
Responsibilities
- Assist in carrying out institutional capacity needs assessment for the coordination and implementation of the Youth Empowerment programme through timely provision of inputs, effective backstoping of activities and monitoring and evaluation of the activities, in conformity with ILO policies and procedures
- Assist in producing discussion documents to assist in the development and promotion of employment intensive infrastructure investment policies, strategies and implementation tools for adoption by national partners
- Assist Ministry of Transport and Communications, Ministry of Works and Supply, Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure and other implementing bodies in the planning, designing, implementation and monitoring of Infrastructure works using the guiding principles Employment Intensive Works
- Identify gaps in or needs for management tools including procurement procedures as well as operational, management and quality assurance guideline
- Support TEVET colleges and sector-based technical training institutions in packaging and rolling out innovative training modules that respond to current national needs
- Coordinate and take part in youth training programmes, which among others involve the selection of trainees and trainers, prepare training programmes, monitoring training quality as well as setting up trail projects
Qualifications
- First level university degree in Civil engineering or equivalent and relevant qualificationThree years proven
- experience in the infrastructure sector particularly in project management, capacity building for sector institutions, training and procurement of public works and services
- Excellent command of English Language and another language of the duty station
