Internship Opportunity at ActionAid International,Zambia: Governance Unit Intern

RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of Governance Manager, the intern will undertake the following assignments:
1. Support policy analysis on economic justice, governance, development finance issues particularly through collection of data on the named issues and following latest developments and happenings.
- Provide relevant/accurate statistics pertaining to economic, social and political issues relevant for the governance Programme.
- Daily analysis of policy matters pertaining to economic and governance issues highlighted in newspapers and other relevant documents
- Support the writing of press statements on various governance issues particularly through editing draft press statements, validating statistics, etc.
2. Engage various stakeholders relevant to the work in the governance unit specifically performing the following functions:
- Plan for the meetings
- Arranging of Venue’s
- Sending out invitation letters
- Prepare report after the meetings
3. Support research efforts on economic justice and governance work by collecting data
- Undertake desk review
- Setup appointments with key stakeholders and follow-up to collect information relating to economic justice and governance work
4. Attend meetings on economic justice and governance issues whenever assigned
- Attend and represent AAZ on meetings relating to economic justice & governance programme issues
- Prepare brief reports on the meeting proceedings and outcomes
5. Perform programme administrative tasks such as photocopying, scanning, make phone calls, meeting preparations and any other programme administrative duties assigned related to implementation of governance work
6. Support Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) efforts in the Governance Unit particularly performing the following tasks:
- Compile relevant statistics relating to males and females reached through an activity or an event such as a public forum, etc
- Document and disseminate lessons learnt and feed into country programming
- Support the collection of information through dissemination of community score cards
- Support the writing of donor reports
7. Support the implementation of the EC-PANAF Project particularly performing the following tasks:
- Planning for activities
- Engaging and supporting youths and journalists in their implementing their action plans

- Ability to multi-task duties and apply practical problem-solving skills as needed,
- Shows persistence when faced with challenges and remains calm in handling complex situations,
- Excellent and effective writing skills,
- Outstanding communication skills,
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite,
- Complete fluency in English and working knowledge of Spanish is required,
- Experience working for international organizations is desirable.
- Knowledge about the governance-related issues and tax justice.
- Willingness to work on voluntary basis.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Holder of a Bachelor’s degree in development studies or economics.
- Excellent research, writing and organizational skills
- Very good communications skills
- Ability to multi-task and address competing priorities
- Strong computer skills, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and website management
- Fluency in English
