The Company has a well-spread branch network across Zambia, providing life assurance products and pension fund management and fund administration services. In order to effectively continue pursuing its vision of being the most preferred provider of world-class life assurance, pension, and fund management services in the Southern Africa region, the company now invites applications from  result-oriented and self-motivated candidates to fill the following positions on the permanent and pensionable basis under the Information Technology Unit:
IT SPECIALIST –NETWORK SECURITY ADMINISTRATOR (1)
JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to IT Manager-Infrastructure, the IT Specialist Network Security Administrator is responsible for undertaking the implementation and supporting network security solutions in order to improve the efficiency of the organization. As an expert, the incumbent will investigate and solve all complex network threats that could attack the technical systems. The role also involves planning, designing, installation, optimization and maintenance of the corporate LAN/WAN/VoIP network infrastructure to ensure network availability for efficient business operations.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure timely identification, troubleshooting, and resolution of all Network Security related issues;
  • Ensure effective provisioning of logical security to all systems along with guidelines to identify, analyze and resolve ALL network security problems;
  • Monitor timely ongoing performance and capability of systems and recommend updates or modifications according to the current threat landscape
  • Monitor effectively all physical network connectivity for activity and thresholds, all connectivity through Internet infrastructure and Quality of Service (QOS) performance;
  • Undertake effectively security audits in order to ensure adherence to organizations risk management policy on security-related issues and make recommendations
  • Manage and ensure optimal operation of all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches and application layer firewalls;
  • Manage and ensure the effectiveness of security solutions, including firewalls, and intrusion detection systems;
  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory, life cycle management, and related documentation;
  • Ensure that all Local Area networks are up and running without breaching the agreed SLAs;
  • Establish and manage incidents elevated from Client services team through prioritized work queue;
  • Ensure that ZSIC Life Administration traffic is prioritized over non-operational traffic to maximize ZSIC Life operations;
  • Monitor timely ongoing performance and capability of systems and recommend upgrades or modifications according to the current utilization and future demands;
  • Monitor effectively all physical network connectivity for activity and thresholds, all connectivity through Internet infrastructure and Quality of Service (QOS) performance;
  • Monitor Utilization of IT network to ensure resources are evenly distributed for efficient business;
  • Undertake effectively the implementation of all security systems and related support;
  • Develop and implement processes to ensure control effectiveness of security infrastructure;
  • Undertake effectively analysis of log analysis, incident reporting, event Analysis and establish the underlying root cause;
  • Undertakes effectively the preparation of daily and weekly activity and Network Security incident reports.

JOB SPECIFICATION

  • Degree in Computer Science/Telecommunications or equivalent;
  • ICT Security Certification;
  • CCNA Certification or equivalent;
  • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience;
  • Member of Computer Society of Zambia/ EIZ with a valid Practicing Certificate;
  • Expert understanding and hands-on experience with internal routing protocols and configuration, ISIS, OSPF, etc.;
  • Extensive knowledge of BGP, MPLS configuration and management;
  • Advanced knowledge of network security including IDS, DDoS, Firewalls, and other distributed attack schemes;
  • Should have a proven track record of solving very complex Data Centre problems independently. The record should be in the form of a recommendation from a senior officer;
  • Extensive knowledge of high connection rate load-balancing;
  • Knowledge of digital certificates / PKI;
  • Fundamental understanding of CDN, DNS, Anycast and traffic engineering;
  • Working knowledge of backbone and data centre networks;
  • Understanding of transit relationships and Internet connectivity;
  • Has a Sound understanding of several specific ZSIC Life technologies/systems/procedures;
  • Good level of knowledge about Data Centre Operation and Management procedures;
  • Fully proficient with system integration, testing and reconfiguration of IP Networks;
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, subnetting, routing, access control lists, firewalls, VPN, NAT and network traffic analysis;
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
