Zambia Land Alliance (ZLA) is a network of Non-governmental Organizations working to promote just land policies and laws that take into account the interests of the poor. ZLA invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacancies:
District Coordinator (1 position- duty station: Solwezi)
Purpose of Job:
Reporting to the Programmes Manger (PM) the DC will be responsible for:
- Overall preparation and implementation of activity schedules at district level
- Representing the organisation at district networking events
- Supervising paralegals and other volunteers to ensure smooth running of project activities
- Supervising district and community level activities
- Managing relationships of stakeholders (host organisation and others)
- Monitoring of district level activities
- Supporting Community Land Advocacy Committees (CLACs) and paralegals
- Providing reports monthly to the PM and Support community advocacy and dialogue
Human Resource and Administration Assistant (1 position- Duty station: National Office)
Reporting to the Finance and Administration Manager the HR assistant will be in charge of:
- Preparing job descriptions, posting job adverts and organizing resumes and job applications
- Scheduling job interviews and assisting in interview process
- Collecting employment and tax information
- Ensuring background and reference checks are completed
- Preparing new employee files
- Orienting new employees to the organization (setting up a designated log-in, workstation, email address, etc
- Administering new employment assessments
- Serving as a point person for all new employee questions
- Ensuring that work place policies are periodically reviewed, and implemented
- Maintaining current HR files and databases
- Updating and maintaining employee benefits, employment status, and similar records
- Maintaining records related to grievances, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions
- Performing file audits to ensure that all required employee documentation is collected and maintained
Book Keeper (1 Position- Duty Station: Samfya) Local candidates are encouraged to apply
Principle Duties:
- Monitor office supply levels and reorder as necessary
- Tag and monitor office fixed assets
- Pay supplier invoices in a timely manner
- Process and pay ay any debt as it comes due for payment
- Ensure that receivables are collected promptly
- Record cash receipts and make bank deposits
- Conduct a monthly reconciliation of bank account
- Maintain the petty cash fund
- Prepare District financial statements
- Provide information to the organizational accountant to input into the annual financial reports
- Calculate and issue financial analysis of the financial statements
- Maintain an orderly accounting filing system for the district
- Maintain the chart of accounts
- Spend district finances according to the work plans budget
- Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
- Comply with organisational and donor reporting requirements
District Accountant (2 positions- Duty stations: Monze and Nyimba)
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the accountants will:
- Ensure that all transactions are accounted for
- Effective Project Financial Management
- Effective Project monitoring
- Liaison with banks and tax authority
- Liaison with Project Auditors
