OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
Provide technical expertise to the Ministry of Health and relevant partners for coordination, accelerated implementation and monitoring of Nutrition activities.
Provide guidance on population dietary goals and evidence informed policies and programmes;
Disseminating and advocating for the adoption of evidence-informed policies and programmes and support country adaptation;
Monitoring global trends in nutrition and supporting surveillance.
Description of duties
Under the supervision of the WHO Representative, the incumbent will be required to perform the following duties
  • Review and analyze national nutrition health policies, strategies, programmes and related legislation;
  • Coordinate nutrition health care activities;
  • Provide technical assistance in the development of operational plans and tools for nutrition;
  • Provide technical assistance for the implementation of nutrition interventions;
  • Establish and coordinate effective partnerships with key stakeholders and donor agencies involved in nutrition programming;
  • Assist in promotion and implementation of operations research for nutrition;
  • Participate in the monitoring and evaluation of nutrition programmes;
Perform any other duties as required.
The incumbent will be the focal person for Nutrition programme at the WCO. He/she will provide lead technical support to the MOH and MCDMCH in order to achieve the national programme and WHO objectives. He/she will have an additional advisory role seeking for guidance from the WR for any issue that requires major decision making or the organization’s commitment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Essential: Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition or other related field obtained from a recognized institution.
