Yalelo is a leading supplier and pioneer of aquaculture in Zambia, bringing together local resources and world-leading practices. Founded in 2011, we have grown quickly to become the leading fisheries firm in Zambia and among the largest aquaculture firms in Africa. We breed and grow our tilapia on the shores of Lake Kariba and sell our product fresh nation-wide.

The mission of the job holder will be to co-ordinate and execute the receiving, storing and dispatching of products and to execute the administrative functions associated with these tasks in an effective and efficient manner while maintaining food safety policies and the quality assessment of products upon receipt and despatch. Is to ensure all inventory and stock management systems are maintained accurately, within the agreed parameters and in a timely manner. Maintain store standards as described in our SOP manual; this includes inventory management, cleaning, shelf/ stock presentation, shelf ticketing.

The Stores Controller will be based in the Lusaka and assist in all aspects of Store control.

Duties and Responsibilities

The will be responsible for, amongst other things:

Responsibilities:

  • Fulfilling your functions within the rules, regulations, instructions, policies and procedures applicable to Yalelo Limited.
  • Rendering professional duties of the highest standard and according to any lawful and reasonable requests and instructions issued to you by your supervisor/manager.
  • Receiving, checking, storing and safekeeping of products.
  • Retrieving, checking, counting and dispatching of all products leaving the Storage area or within your custody.
  • Executing all administrative related tasks and functions associated with the storage function.
  • Cleanliness, hygiene and neatness of the receiving, dispatching and storage areas as a whole.
  • Ensure that all KPI’s are within acceptable/permitted limits at all times.

Requirements

  • Degree holder of BSc in Purchasing and Supply or degree holder in a relevant discipline.
  • Language Skills: English (Required).
  • Experience of working with ERP systems (e.g. Microsoft Office (EXCEL)
  • High degree of personal organization.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to confidently address and present to a range of audiences.
  • Resilient, persistent and driven.
  • Team player and self-driven.

Person Specification

  • Must be geographically mobile with valid drivers’ licence and own transportation
  • Based in Lusaka
  • 12 months+ work experience, inclusive of time spent wholly or considerably within the private sector
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Dedicated team player who takes initiative, is detail oriented, organized and has proven ability to follow up tasks through to quality completion
  • Quick thinking and able to self-manage.
  • Comfortable working with internal and external parties
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of MS Office (including MS PowerPoint)
  • Self-starter who is able to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work Monday to Saturday
