Kagem Mining Limited, based in Lufwanyama, is the world’s single largest emerald producer. It covers an area of approximately 41 square kilometers and is in the central part of the Ndola Rural Emerald Restricted Area (“NRERA’), in the Copperbelt Province of Zambia. Kagem is seeking remarkable candidates to join the team, in the positions of Head Engineering, Materials Manager and Senior Materials Officer.

SENIOR MATERIALS OFFICER (1 POSITION)

Reports to: Manager Materials

Job Purpose: To ensure the effective procurement of materials, and adherence to established policies and procedures.

Principle Accountabilities

  • To ensures procurement of supplies is done in strict conformity with established policies and procedures.
  • To ensure the effective management and control of all the company’s external suppliers with particular emphasis on the purchase of materials and finished parts
  • Effective negotiating with suppliers for favorable terms and the right prices for goods/services.
  • Ensure necessary documents are prepared on time to facilitate timely payment to suppliers
  • To maintain and sustain conducive relationships with suppliers
  • To follow up with suppliers and ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Provide advice to end users on the status of their requests/any queries raised by suppliers
  • Ensures that all departmental resources are used solely for company purpose, without misuse
  • Ensure the timely identification of key suppliers (both new and old) who are aligned with the company’s needs in order to broaden the Company supplier base.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Graduate Diploma – CIPS / Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement & Supplies / Business Administration
  • Minimum 7 years work experience in Materials Management
  • Paid up member of ZIPS
  • Excellent analytical and evaluation skills.
  • Good command of oral and written communication Computer literate.
