EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY – CHIEF INTERNAL AUDITOR

The Council of the Kwame Nkrumah University (KNU) a public university invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of CHIEF INTERNAL AUDITOR.

JOB PURPOSE: To lead and manage the Audit function of the University comprising Audit of the University resources, systems/processes, and risk management in a transparent and objective manner and with the highest standard of integrity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:

  • Leading the strategic direction of the Internal Audit Function.
  • Reporting periodically to the Audit and Risk Committee of Council and to the Vice-Chancellor
  • Monitoring and reviewing compliance with University policies and operating systems, processes, procedures, relevant laws and regulations relating to academic and administrative functions.
  • Providing guidance and support to all functionaries in undertaking risk assessments and evaluation of existing controls.
  • Conducting inspections and verification of negotiable securities, receivables, and payables including examination of receipts for cash payments and purchases.
  • Performing rolling reviews of the University’s programmes, assets, and inventory.
  • Coordinating all audit activities to ensure an efficient and effective audit coverage that supports University goals.
  • Explaining the University control systems and processes to external auditors as requested from time to time.
  • Carrying out due diligence reviews, investigations and any other related tasks when required by the Vice-Chancellor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

  • Must have a full Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate with at least 5 credits that must include the English Language.
  • Must have first Degree in Accountancy plus full professional accounting qualification such as ZICA, ACCA or CIMA.
  • Possession of Chartered Risk Management and Assurance (CRMA) or Chartered Internal Auditor (CIA) qualifications will be an added advantage.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years’ post-qualifying experience in Internal Audit preferably at Senior Level.
  • Must be well vest with government, University operations and regulations.
  • Must be a registered member of the Institute of Internal Auditors or ILA Global
  • Must be computer literate and familiar with systems audit.
  • Must have good interpersonal skills.
