School of Medicine and Health Sciences

The university is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the positions of Laboratory Scientist and Laboratory Technician in the School of Medicine and Health Sciences.

Laboratory Scientist (1)

Description

The main responsibility of the incumbent will be to participate in the training of medical and public health students as well as managing the Medical and Public Health Laboratories.

Responsibilities:

  • To manage all the medical science laboratories of the School.
  • To ensure that lab-based student training is conducted in a safe, secure and suitable environment.
  • To report regularly to the Head of Basic Sciences on the Medical science laboratory activities including research and training.
  • To report regularly to the Head of Public Health on the Public Health laboratory activities induding research and training.

Qualifications

Interested candidates must have the following qualifications:

  • Masters in Laboratory Science, Public Health or equivalent.
  • BSc in Biomedical Sciences, Public Health, Laboratory Sciences or equivalent.
  • Certification in Laboratory Safety Registration with the Health Professions Council of Zambia as a Laboratory Technician
  • Five (5) years’ experience working in a Medical or Public Health Laboratory
  • Training in first aids, Health and Safety.

Laboratory Technician (1)

The main responsibility of the incumbent will be to participate in the training of medical students by way of conducting Laboratory sessions as well as assist in the management of the laboratories.

Responsibilities:

  • To participate in the training of Medical students.
  • To assist in the management of the medical science laboratories,
  • To ensure that lab-based student training is conducted in a safe, secure, and suitable environment.
  • To report regularly to the Head of Basic Sciences on the Medical science laboratory activities including research and training.

Qualifications

  • BSc in Biomedical Sciences or Laboratory Sciences
  • Certification in Laboratory Safety
  • Registration with the Health Professionals Council of Zambia as a Laboratory Technician
  • 1-2 years’ experience working in a Medical Laboratory Training in first aids, Health and Safety

Salary Package:
