Lafarge Zambia is looking to recruit dynamic, motivated, enthusiastic and qualified individuals as in various Departments based at Chilanga and Ndola Plants as follows:

PRODUCTION SUPERINTENDENT X2 (Position Location — Ndola and Chilanga)

OVERALL JOB

To manage daily plant operations and provide technical assistance to operations staff in order to achieve and sustain production targets.

MAIN ACTIVITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage plant operations by identifying technical and operational problems affecting plant performance and make recommendations to address them.
• Follow up all breakdowns and Plant maintenance jobs so as to enhance plant availability.
• Monitor through the analysis of assays of various process streams provided by the laboratory, the quality of raw mill, clinker and cement produced.
• Monitor stock levels of raw materials in all the bins such as limestone, shale, sand, clinker, gypsum, and coal to enhance their continued availability in the hoppers, so as to maintain high equipment utilisation.
• Compile daily reports on plant equipment operations regarding performance in terms of output, and identify root causes leading to non-performance.
• Ensure that operating procedures and instructions are followed and adhered to.
• Prepare and supervise kiln de-bricking and bricking as per Lafarge guidelines.
• Supervise charging of mills and cleaning of slots.
• Monitor effective blending of materials going to the mills as per the issued instructions.
• Monitor Packing Plant shift performance in terms of cement dispatched from each packer.
• Manage the health and safety of employees and domestic regulations with the view to achieving accident-free days.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Degree holder in Mineral Sciences or Metallurgy, or Chemical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Relevant pre-job experience with minimum 5 years’ experience in a processing plant (i.e mineral, chemical or cement plant).
• Good communication skills.
• Energetic, analytical with good motivation.
