Tasks and Responsibilities

Starting in our network institution in Zambia, you will be responsible for the IT infrastructure project implementation planning by consolidating inputs from various internal and external stakeholders and converting them into actionable IT infrastructure implementation plans for several of our Sub-Saharan network banks. You will be working on-site and reporting to the IT Infrastructure Project Manager ensuring that infrastructure planning is carried out timely and in required quality. Furthermore, your tasks will include:

  • In coordination with various internal and external stakeholders, manage, oversee and deliver integrated infrastructure implementation plans and ensure readiness for implementation;
  • Manage budget and cost planning for the project and potential changes;
  • Perform impact assessment for any change across infrastructure, including impact areas and significance;
  • Manage stakeholders and act as liaison point for business and IT stakeholders internally and externally (IT infrastructure provider, local IT team, software solution vendors, software development and QA team, local service providers);
  • Plan and oversee all integration and migration activities to integrate current and new infrastructure environments;
  • Address and solve planning and integration challenges associated with the implementation of environments on all OSI layers.

Minimum Requirements

  • University degree in Information Technology or similar fields;
  • Relevant Microsoft or other vendor certifications are an advantage;
  • Proven work experience in the following areas:
    • IT infrastructure planning and delivery;
    • ICT infrastructure auditing, gap analysis and documentation;
    • Windows Server technologies (HyperV, MS AD, LDAP, GPO, WAP, MS Licensing, load-balancing);
    • Data Network planning (LAN/WAN concepts, data transmission, routing, protocol stack, DNS, DHCP, load balancing, firewalls, web application proxies);
    • Storage technologies (SAN, NAS, FE, RAID), including backup and data replication technologies;
    • Database planning, optimization, backup;
    • Management of different stakeholders such as software vendors, internal development team and software quality assurance team;
  • High-quality technical writing skills and experience documenting IT infrastructure designs;
  • Experience with escalation mechanisms and effective resolution;
  • Outstanding negotiation skills (contracting and management of local ICT vendors and providers);
  • Flexible, self-driven, goal-oriented and pragmatic work style;
  • Working experience in African countries;
  • Very good spoken and written English, further foreign language skills are an asset;
  • Willingness to work in Sub-Saharan banks (Zambia, Liberia, Tanzania, Rwanda) and relocate as needed.
