Job Title: Legal Officer
Job purpose
To provide legal advice and services in order to safeguard the interest of the company
Responsibilities
- Advises the Line Managers on legal matters affecting the company’s operations sits on various committees i.e disciplinary and grievances
- Undertakes litigation brought against the company by third parties
- Handles the conveyancing in respect of the transfers or acquiring of the company property . Prepares and develops standard contractual documents
- Reviews and recommends contractual documents in respect of non – recurrent contractual arrangements in the interest of the company
- Receives and/or interprets statues that affect or impact the operations of the company, render opinions and advice
- Provides technical advice to the negotiation and preparation of contracts. Ensures that contracts and agreements executed by the company protect the company’s interests
- Works together with functional departments to evaluate contracts and prepare for negotiations to improve contracts terms and conditions
Qualifications and experience
- Minimum of Bachelor of Laws Degree from a reputable University
- At least three years’ experience
- Valid practicing Certificate
- Advocate of the High Court of Zambia
