Legal Officer: Judicial Complaints Authority


The Judicial Complaints Authority (JCA) is a statutory body established by the Judicial (Code of Conduct) Act No. 13 of 1999 as amended by the Judicial (Code of Conduct) Amendment Act No. 13 of 2006. The Act requires judicial officers to conduct themselves in accordance with the Code of Conduct. The Authority has been established to enforce the Code of Conduct, Members of the Judicial Complaints Authority are appointed by the President subject to ratification by National Assembly. The Secretary to the Authority is also appointed by the President. The Authonty receives grants from the Government to enable it perform its statutory duties, The Authority ¡s inviting applications from suitably qualified Zambians to fill the position of:

 Position: LEGAL OFFICER (2)

 Reports to: Secretary to the Authority

 Location: Lusaka

 Main Duties:

Undertakes thorough research in order to facilitate informed decision making
Provides timely legal documentation in order to facilitate investigations
Prepares legal opinions for the Members of the Authority
Maintains an accurate up-to-date database of reported complaints in order to facilitate quick and easy retrieval of information

QUALIFICATIONS

  •  Candidate must be Zambian with minimum age of 25 years
  •  Degree in Law
  •  Current Legal Practitioners’ Practicing Certificate
  •  Three (3) years post admission experience
  •  Excellent communication skills as the job entails report writing
