Position: Loan Officer (6 positions)

MorningLight Financial Solutions Limited is a newly formed money lending company that aims at providing financial solutions to clients in formal employment in Zambia. The company is starting its operations on April 1, 2020 and will start with salary advances given at a competitive rate of 18% per month. The company will have offices in Lusaka, Kitwe and Solwezi.

The Loan Officer will report to the Branch Manager and will be responsible for loan preparation applications, evaluating clients’ financial information and calculating risk ratios. To be successful in this role, the candidate should have a good understanding of lending procedures and customer service experience.

Specific duties and responsibilities

  • Meet with loan applicants to obtain information for loan applications and to answer questions about the process.
  • Ensure that the clients have correct documentations for loan application.
  • Analyze applicants’ financial status, credit, and property evaluations to determine feasibility of granting loans.
  • Analyzing the risks involved from different customers and working with them to ensure that all loans are resolved as per the schedule
  • Making follow ups on debt recovery on possible defaulting customers
  • Issuing and receipting cash
  • Performing banking transactions on behalf of the company
  • Explain to customers the type of loans and credit options that are available, as well as the terms of those services.
  • Obtain and compile copies of loan applicants’ credit histories, corporate financial statements, and other financial information.
  • Review loan agreements to ensure that they are complete and accurate according to policy.
  • Compute payment schedules.
  • Submit applications to credit analysts for verification and recommendation.
  • Handle customer complaints and take appropriate action to resolve them.
  • Market the loan products to individuals and firms, promoting loan services that may meet customers’ needs.
  • Any other duties an assigned  by the supervisor

Qualifications and skills requirements

  • Full Grade 12 Certificate
  • Professional ZICA, Business Administration Diploma or ACCA level II or Related field
  • Minimum one years working experience in micro-finance.
  • Good communication, coordination, monitoring and planning skills
  • Ability to communicate in English and local language highly desirable
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must be strong Computer skills in Microsoft Office.
