A development and management consulting firm which provides advisory, consulting and research services in food and agriculture, business, financial services, livelihoods, environment and natural resources sectors seeks the services of two Managers to support the Local Economic Development Initiatives of a partner organization that is working with two Mines in Southern Province and North Western Province. One Manager will be stationed in Lusaka with the other one in Kalumbila.

1. Scope of Work

  • To help with developing businesses that operate in the vicinity Kalumbila and Munali Nickel Mine
  • To identify business opportunities in these areas that can either supply to the Mines or operate as independent businesses
  • To assist in the development of business plans for the identified business opportunities
  • To identify and pursue access to finance avenues for the identified businesses

2. Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the client, develop a strategy and plans for the duration of the assignment.
  • Working with partners in Kalumbila and Munali Mine, develop businesses that will be autonomous of the Mines
  • Identify capacity gaps of businesses operating in these areas as well as designing appropriate interventions to address capacity gaps identified
  • Identify opportunities for business investments in the respective Mining areas.

3. Qualifications and Requisite Skills

The successful candidate is expected to a have a suitable university degree and a minimum of three years working with the private sector or donor-funded projects, dealing with grants and/or contracts and managing financial and other reporting requirements. Knowledge of the sector and private sector development are desirable.
