Logistics Officer – Population Services International Zimbabwe

LOGISTIICS OFFICER (2 posts) – Head Office

Reporting to the Procurement Manager, this position will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:-

  • Participates in program planning and giving advice on logistics considerations.
  • Liaises with programs to establish detailed procurement plans with appropriate specifications of required items and realistic timelines in coordination with procurement
  • Coordinates program, procurement, transport and warehousing activities so as to ensure efficient and timely delivery of products and services required in the field.
  • Tracks, follows up and expedites purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Provides technical and operational support to the field office as well as advice on application of logistics management best practice, systems and procedures.
  • Carries out regular trips to the field to ensure that medical supplies, promo materials and other program supplies forwarded to sites have been received and properly accounted for at their destinations, and report any losses or damages.
  • Checks accuracy of stock records versus physical stocks and monthly stock reports.
  • Ensures enforcement of PSI/Z policy and procedure guidelines established e.g. stock management, safety and security.
  • Identifies additional logistic training requirements to achieve high working standards in the field.
  • Designs and implements commodity tracking system and tie back with program outputs versus issued and remaining stock balances.
  • Conducts special management reviews and/or follow-ups on audit/quarterly site visit observations to assist in the improvement of field procedures and practices related to supply chain.

REQUIREMENTS

Required Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum HND in Logistics or equivalent.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body such as CILT or CIPS an added advantage.
  • At least 3 years work experience in logistics with varied exposure to procurement, warehousing, and transport and distribution functions preferably in Humanitarian or Health sectors.
  • Computer skills – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, knowledge of any ERP system and ability to trouble shoot.
