Lubambe Copper Mine is located within the Greater Konkola Area of the Zambian Copperbelt and consists of a large-scale mining license covering an area of approximately 240 square kilometers. The mine is a modern, world-class facility with fully mechanized underground operations.

Lubambe Copper Mines is owned by EMR Capital of Australia (80%) and ZCCM – Investments Holdings (20%).

The Mine is currently in a ramp-up stage and will ultimately produce 45, 000 tonnes of contained copper and will employ approximately 1,500 people. The Plant infrastructure consists of a Concentrator plant, a laboratory and underground infrastructure. The Concentrator incorporates crushing, milling, flotation, and filtration. The design capacity is 2.5 MTPA of ore at an average mill grade of 2.3% copper, yielding 45,000 tonnes of contained copper in concentrate to be sold to a smelter in Zambia.

To support this vision, Lubambe Copper Mine seeks to employ experienced and qualified individuals in the  following positions:

SENIOR FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT – ASSETS (X1)

This position reports to the Financial Controller.

 CORE PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

This position is responsible for

  • Monthly, Quarterly and Annual Financial Reporting (Balance Sheet)
  • All Assets and Treasury management
  • Ensuring integrity of the Trial Balance by performing General Ledger Reconciliations
  • Concentrate Sales internal and external reporting

Key Performance Areas/Indicators (KPA/Is):

Monthly preparation of Balance Sheet and ensure all reconciliations and analyses are prepared, reviewed and approved.

Copper Concentrate Sales

  • Obtain monthly Concentrate Shipment Certificate from Metallurgy and accurately prepare both provisional and final invoices to ensure that they have been dispatched to our two customers.
  • Process sales Journals in ERP system and ensure that they are recorded correctly by performing reconciliations for the sales for the month.
  • Ensure that sales are correctly revalued by performing Marked to Market monthly on open invoices where no final invoices have been raised.
  • Reconcile debtors monthly to ensure that balance recorded on the general ledger is correct
  • Liaise with customers on issues relating to concentrate sales
  • Ensure that output Vat is properly recorded in general ledger
  • Ensure the Concentrate Contract terms are complied with including following up finalization adjustments

Treasury Management

  • Prepare 16-week cash flow rolling forecast based on
  • Ensure daily cash position is prepared and reconciled
  • Foreign exchange dealing by negotiating the exchange rate with the banks
  • Ensure enough Kwacha cover to facilitate payment of Kwacha payment
  • Supervising payment process and signing of the payment documents
  • Payments follow-up from customers
  • Reviewing and approving cash book transactions journals in ERP system
  • Ensure petty cash is properly secured and approving payment vouchers
  • Ensure that bank reconciliations are prepared, reviewed and signed off monthly
  • Contact person for banks

Fixed Assets management

  • Capital expenditure control by comparing budget to actual
  • Ensuring that application for capital expenditure form is duly signed off before the purchase order is raised for any capital item
  • Recommend to management any updates to accounting policies related to fixed assets.
  • Impairment reviews
  • Fixed Assets maintenance by adding new assets, correct depreciation applied to all assets, verification of and disposal
  • Ensure that fixed assets register and reconciled to the general ledger and that reconciliations are signed off
  • Drafting of procedure on fixed assets

Other Jobs

Professional Qualifications and Experience:

  • Professional Accounting qualification
  • A degree qualification in Accounting
  • Valid member of ZICA
  • 5 years working in the same role
  • Hands on experience preferably in the mining sector with ERP and Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with excellent presentation skills
