The Lusaka Apex Medical University (LAMU) is a privately owned University, registered by the Ministry of Higher Education under Higher Education Authority ACT No. 4 of 2013 to provide higher Education in Medical Education. LAMU is regulated by Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ), General Nursing Council Of Zambia (GNC), Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training Authority (TEVETA) and Higher Education Authority itself.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the following positions:

Information and Technology Communication (ICT) OFFICE:

Head – ICT (Position- 1)

Position Summary:

The Head- ICT will be responsible for managing and coordinating the LAMU Information and Communications Technology systems in order to support and optimize academic and corporate business processes of the Company.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Undertakes technical evaluation of software and hardware requirements for the University and provides specifications to the procurement personnel in order to select and acquire computer hardware and software suitable for the University’s operational needs.
  • Prepares the annual departmental budget, including the annual procurement plans so as to monitor and control the Department’s expenditures accordingly.
  • Conceives, develops and implements plans and policies for cost effective and efficient application of ICT resources in compliance with overall tactical and strategic plans of the LAMU.
  • Manages the development and maintenance of an efficient data and voice ICT infrastructure so as to effectively provide an ICT technical support and services to administrative and academic requirements across LAMU.
  • Manages the support Contract/Service Level Agreements for IT, network infrastructure, telephone and printing facilities to ensure efficient and effective performance and deployment of appropriate services.
  • Designs and implements an effective disaster recovery plan ensuring a robust back-up system is in place.
  • Perform routine backups and archival of files and media stored on the network to assist with disaster recovery and re-engineering.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Full Grade 12 /Or 5 GCE ‘O’ Level Certificate.
  • First Degree in Information Technology from a recognized University/Institution.
  • Postgraduate Degree in a similar field will be an added advantage.
  • Five to Seven (5- 7) years working experience in a higher learning Institution or a similar field.
  • Between 30 to 50 years of Age.
  • Membership to any relevant Zambian/International Regulatory Body
