Lusaka Provincial Health Office (LPHO) with Support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the under-listed position:

Job Title: Research, Documentation and Publication Officer

Location: Lusaka Provincial Health Office

Job Purpose: The incumbent will conduct HIV/AIDS-related research work in order to provide more insight and improve HIV/ AIDS programs. S/he will work closely with Program Officers in identi$ing and sharing existing and potential program successes and challenges through documentation, publications and reports with key stakeholders including the formulation of new award applications.

Principal Accountabilities;

  • Implement and coordinate HIV/AIDS research, documentation and publication planning through collaboration with program officers.
  • Conduct desk reviews, secondary and primary research;
  • Advice on appropriate research, documentation and publication methods for the program.
  • Prepare and present papers on various subject matters;
  • Supervise research, documentation and publication projects, including research design, project reporting, field research, analysis, and publications.
  • Plan and oversee the dissemination of Project information;
  • Ensure adherence to defined quality, standards and policies on all research and project documentation, in particular, the quality control of research outputs;
  • Prepare policy and discussion papers on relevant and topical issues;
  • Ensure that policy advice is informed by accurate information;
  • S/he will draft and prepare necessary project documentation for new activities
  • S/he will also apply health communications expertise (e.g., creating program profiles, summarizing lessons learned from data/ research findings,).
  • Assist with semi-annual and annual results reporting;
  • S/he drafts action memos, letters, and prepares project-related documents, and correspondence; and
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor from time-to-time.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate with a minimum of five credits including Mathematics, Science, and English.
  • Minimum Degree in Public Health, Demography or any related field
  • At least three (3) years of relevant job experience.
  • Two (2) year’s experience in designing and working on evaluations/ research
  • Proven track record of designing research tools and questionnaires, and managing focus group discussions and in-depth interviews.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills
  • Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to achieve desired results
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally demonstrable scientific writing ability

Added Advantage;

  1. Master’s Degree in any of the Disciplines mentioned above
  2. Proven track record of having published in peer-review journals
  3. Ability to use statistical software such as SAS, SPSS, R, or STATA
