The Mission of the Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company Limited is to provide quality water and sanitation services to customers in Lusaka Province at commercially and environmentally sustainable levels. In order to achieve this, the Company endeavours to ensure that adequate staff with the right skills are available as required. LWSC now seeks to recruit dynamic and energetic individuals who are performance driven, and invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced Zambians to fill the following vacant position:

Head of Business Development (1 position)

Job Purpose

Responsible for developing business solutions for Faecal Sludge Management (FSM) and formulating effective business plans to generate more revenue for LWSC as well as devising marketing strategies to attract and ensure customer loyalty, taking into account social and gender issues.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. To research the market and identify new business opportunities and present reports for further consideration.
  2. To develop business proposals for identified new and existing clusters of customers and submit to management for consideration.
  3. To develop business and marketing plans in liaison with corporate planning and marketing respectively, in order to achieve FSM revenue aims and objectives.
  4. To analyze budgets and actual performance regarding revenue expenses and service deficiencies as a basis of recommending improvements regarding FSM business growth and problem resolution.
  5. Working in liaison With the Marketing Department, develop product and service branding and initiate media communication activities such as press releases and advertisements aimed at growing the customer base.
  6. To develop creative strategies that can lead to the attainment of business growth and sustainability.
  7. To develop strong customer relationships in order to generate high volumes of prospective customers and explain the F SM services offered and to follow up with them in order to close the business deaIs and timely respond to customer queries regarding the services.
  8. To develop in-depth knowledge about best FSM business practices and industry trends.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  1. School Certificate
  2. Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Business Administration, Economics or any business related qualification.
  3. At least three (3) years’ work experience in appraising projects or developing business development in a large corporate entity

Other Attributes for all Positions

  • Should be a self-starter and able to work long hours with minimum supervision
  • Must have demonstrable communication skills with an aptitude to interpret data
  • Must have computer literacy in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project
  • Must be a team player with multitasking skills
