Our client, a Commercial Bank in Zambia, is currently seeking to recruit for the position of Head IT.

JOB PURPOSE:

To plan, organize and control the development and operation of all management information systems in order to optimize use of computer resources and facilities to meet the Bank’s needs.

QUALIFICATION / EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • University Degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or its equivalent
  • At least 10 years post qualifying experience in the ICT field of which more than 5 years must be in a banking environment.
  • Good command of the English language for documentation and report writing
  • Good interpersonal and supervisory skills

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (KPA’s):

  • Establish and maintain a framework to provide assurance that ICT/Information Security strategies are aligned with the business objectives and consistent with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Oversee and direct departmental resources to meet performance targets and business objectives.
  • Ensure an appropriate framework for the governance and management of bank’s Information and Communications Technology services/resources based on Industry Standards and best practices.
  • Ensure appropriate ICT infrastructure is in place to support the operational, tactical and strategic goals of the bank including effective and efficient utilization of ICT resources.
  • Formulate, implement and monitor management information systems and reviews regularly to ensure that such systems meet the needs of the bank economically.
  • Evaluates software and hardware requirements for the Bank with a view to improving the computer capacity.
  • Coordinate development and implementation of computer-based systems, sets priorities and terms of reference in respect of computer based projects and applications to ensure that they meet the requirements of user departments and management.
  • Sets up standards and budgetary control and ensures that subordinates adhere to them.
  • Maintains close liaison with user departments. Evaluates user department requirements for additional computer applications, determines their viability and ensures user departments appreciate the significance of computerizing.
  • Identifies development training needs among subordinates and plans courses of action to ensure availability of trained personnel in the department to facilitate smooth flow of work.
  • Prepares annual budget proposals for the department and submit them for approval. Controls expenditure upon approval to keep costs to the minimum.
  • Performs other lawful duties assigned by superior.
