Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) is one of the largest copper producers in Zambia. It operates underground and open-pit mines as well as metallurgical plants with operations located at Nchanga, Konkola, Nkana, and Nampundwe. KCM’s operations include a state-of-the-art smelter, open pit, and underground mines and a refinery. To support this vision KCM will be recruiting qualified and experienced individuals for the following positions at Konkola Mine in Chililabombwe:

MACHINIST x 6

Job Purpose

Operate a variety of machine tools to manufacture and produce precision, engineering components and parts for end-users.

Job Accountabilities

  • Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, boring machines, qishapers, etc.
  • Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in the preparation of machining works.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate machine tools safely and many specialized and/or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.
  • Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to machine products, determine product dimensions and tolerances.

Requirements

  • Craft certificate in machining from a reputable institution
  • At least 3 years’ post qualification hands-on experience in a busy and equipped mechanical engineering workshop
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments
  • Innovative and able to work independently
  • Member of Engineering Institute of Zambia
