Responsibilities
- To prepare, develop and analyse management accounting information for internal and external stakeholders and to oversee prudent utilisation of LS-MFEZ financial, human and ICT resources in order to provide professional financial, HR and ICT services
- Implements effective grant tracking or monitoring systems for monitoring grant expenditure in order to identify irregularities
- Manages payroll and expense reimbursement for local staff
- Prepares cash flow statements and expenditure accounts
- Monitors cash flow and works closely with the Chief Executive Officer to manage shortfalls or surpluses
- Works closely with the Chief Executive Officer to prepare Company, annual and multi-year budgets
- Analyses variances and explores potential problems with Company budget in order to forecast address any variances
- Prepares monthly financial reports for internal and external use
- Prepares periodic budgetary control statements in order to determine Company financial performance and suggest corrective action, if required
- Processes cheques and code expenditure (travel advances, imprest and purchase requisition)
- Participates in internal and external audits by providing auditors with accounting documents as requested and provides explanations for audit queries
- Manages compliance with Zambian tax laws
- Manages annual Human Resource audit to ensure compliance with Zambian Labour Laws
- Manages human resource matters including contracts, insurance and performance appraisal cycles
- Oversees the ICT function to ensure it is fully functional and liaises with the external service providers
Qualifications
- Full Grade 12 School Certificate
- Full ACCA or CIMA and ZICA or Bachelor of Accountancy and Finance
- ZICA Membership or any other relevant professional body
- Seven years relevant post qualification experience of which three years should be at senior level
- Good leadership and strategic management skills
- Deep knowledge of best practices in financial management required
- Proven ability to lead the HR function Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Knowledge of key donor reporting requirements; and Experience and understanding of not-for-profit accounting
- Excellent knowledge of Excel, Access and PowerPoint required
- Familiarity with Serenic Navigator, or similar finance and accounting software, preferred
- Financial management and financial reporting skills
- Ability to mentor and coach
- Excellent analytical and management skills
