MARC Supervisor Job: Barrick Gold Corporation Zambia
Lumwana Mining Company Limited (LMC), a copper mining company owned by Barrick Gold Corporation is situated in the North Western region of Zambia, some 300 km west of the Zambian Copperbelt and 95 km south west of the provincial capital of Solwezi. The mine is a multi-pit, multi staged operation mining approximately 100MT of ore and waste per annum and producing copper concentrates containing an average of 120,000 tonnes of copper metal per year over a twenty (20) year mine life, making Lumwana the largest single open cut copper mine in Africa. The Company is now looking for an experienced and qualified individual to be considered for the position of MARC Supervisor.

Location: Lumwana Mine, Solwezi, Zambia.
Reporting to: Field Maintenance Superintendent
Role Summary
Reporting to the Field Maintenance Superintendent, you will identify, develop and implement improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and effectiveness of field maintenance processes with respect to drill MARC contractor performance.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the performance of the maintenance and repair contract (MARC) with sandvik.
- Carry out structured routine safety inspections in cooperation with sandvik maintenance representatives.
- Actively promote full cooperation between the maintenance, MARC contractor and mining operation.
- Take full responsibility and accountability for the performance of the MARC team.
- Assist to control cost budgets for drills working with MARC.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of work quality and systems and processes of the MARC contractor.
- Assist to measure and report drill equipment performance.
- Ensure adequate monitor conditioning of drill equipment is in place and being conducted.
- Cooperate with the maintenance and mining operations planners regarding input schedules and accurate information.
- Implement and maintain safe work procedures and promote high safety and health awareness.
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
- Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia.
- Significantly 10 years sandvik drill maintenance experience.
- Supervisory experience in large multi pit operations utilizing large scale mining equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team safely and improve team safety awareness.
- Ability to communicate effectively across all levels.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
