Meanwood Agriculture Limited is a fully Zambian owned company engaged in Livestock Production. It was established to undertake transformative livestock investments that include sustainable agricultural activities that contribute to social and economic development of the rural communities,  and the national economy by embracing the government policy of agricultural diversification. The Company is embarking on an expansion of its livestock operations and seeks to employ eligible and suitably qualified Zambian candidates for the following positions.

LIVESTOCK MANAGER – (x1)

Role Overview

Reporting to the Head of Operations. The MAL Livestock Manager is responsible for overall management including physical and financial performance of the ranches. The candidate will focus on strategic sourcing and procurement, husbandry, nutrition and supplier relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate all phases from procuring, feeding, management, husbandry, and marketing of mature livestock, while effectively managing the ranches’ brands and products.
  • Direct performance of hands-on Key Performance Indicators using annual commodity budgets and cash flow projections, and productivity initiatives and innovation.
  • Develop and articulate annual commodity strategies as well as other reports as needed.
  • Implement quality standards including human and food safety policies and practices for all employees and third parties.
  • Lead/coordinate activities regarding livestock quality, product innovation, and social responsibilities ensuring that government regulations are enforced.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Economics, Business Agriculture or related discipline from a reputable university.
  • 5 years’ experience at senior managerial level in a large livestock enterprise.
  • Knowledge of all related production, procurement and supply chains in the livestock industry.
  • Should be computer literate and proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated management and business competence.
  • Should be honest and have integrity.
  • Should have a valid drivers license.
