Primary purpose of the role
The Financial Sector Analyst (Analyst) supports the research and insights unit to provide insights on the banking sector, broader economic and development climate in Zambia, as well as highlighting news, developments and innovations in the banking sector across the globe. The Analyst should be able to provide a comprehensive overview of the banking and economic sectors, including summarising news and feature pieces, synthetizing data, and compile and forecast trends using a variety of sources including local newspapers, online, television and radio. The insights will be compiled on a weekly basis in the form of a Weekly Insights Report and include a database of all referenced material. The purpose of the report is to help inform Media 365’s clients working in these sectors to make informed decisions about projects, products and service delivery.
Skills, competencies, qualifications, experience and personal attributes
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in communications, journalism, business, economics, statistics, social sciences or a related field or the equivalent in work experience
  • 2+ years – experience in communications or media relations for a fast-paced media house, NGO, consultancy agency or similar organisation
  • Experience in analytics, insights or providing summaries, reviews and/or opinion pieces
  • Experience of communicating complex topics for a mass audience
  • Strong writing skills with experience of writing for print or online channels in a professional capacity
  • Creative and have an analytical and editorial mindset
  • Research experience, especially as relates to banking, business and/or economic/development sectors
  • Experience of media monitoring
  • Ability to analyze and summarize insights, as well as make recommendations
  • Excellent oral and written skills
  • Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Desirable
  • Knowledgeable about email platforms such as MailChimp a plus
  • Knowledge of Photoshop and Indesign a plus
