The Eastern Provincial Health Office under the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) Project through a Cooperative Agreement (CoAg) with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the positions listed to be employed on a one-year contract basis.
MEDICAL OFFICER – ART (4 Positions)
Location: Chipata Central Hospital, Kapata Urban Health Centre in Chipata District, St. Francis Mission Hospital- Katete District, Petauke District Hospital- Petauke District
Job Purpose: To provide quality HIV/TB care and treatment services in line with national and international guidelines in order to achieve optimal treatment outcomes among PLHIV.
Principal Accountabilities
- Undertakes to provide leadership in the management of HIV/TB patients at site-level to achieve optimal patient outcomes inclusive of retention and viral suppression.
- Undertakes to ensure all newly diagnosed HIV Positive patients are promptly initiated on efficacious drugs in line with national guidelines.
- Undertakes to ensure that all patients current on treatment in the facility receive quality clinical services in line with national guidelines.
- Undertakes to ensure that all patients with unsuppressed viral load receive effective and quality Enhanced Adherence Counselling and appropriate clinical services until they achieve viral suppression.
- Participates in tele ECHO sessions as scheduled and identify, analyze, and present cases during ECHO sessions.
- Provide effective capacity building activities to other staff in the facility to ensure provision of quality HIV/TB services in line with national guidelines.
- Undertakes establishment of workable client-centered models of care for stable clients
- Undertakes timely tracking of stable clients and provides 6 months dispensation of ARVs to clients stable on ART
- Undertakes maintenance of up to date paper based and electronic registers
- Undertakes timely preparation of weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual as well as any ad-hoc reports as required in the required formats.
Required, Qualification, Skills, and Experience
- Full Grade 12 Certificate with at least five O- level credits
- Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery or its equivalent
- Holder of a Full Registration Certificate from Health Professions Council of Zambia
- Holder of a valid practicing license
- At least two (2) years’ work experience
- Experience in ART service provision will be an added advantage
