Position Summary and Requirements

The main raw materials used at Yellowstripe Resources Zambia Limited for producing its final products are ferrous metals mainly consisting of scrap waste metal. Yellowstripe Resources Zambia Limited has many suppliers that come to the organization with different types of scrap waste metal that is used in its manufacturing process. The scrap metal that is supplied to the Yellowstripe Resources Zambia Limited is stored in the scrap yard before being inputted into the process. The suitable candidate must have the required experience and skills that include the following:-

• Experience in managing a scrap yard by ensuring that the correct types of metals are stored based on their properties of either being ferrous or non-ferrous metals.
• Extensive knowledge on understanding the different types of scrap that is brought into the yard by identifying light scrap, mild steel scrap and cast scrap.
• Experience with operating a bundling machine and ensuring that the correct scrap is inputted through the machine and that the bundling machine runs at maximum capacity.
• Create quality reports for all waste scrap that is brought into the yard through identifying their physical and chemical properties and coordinating with the plant laboratory and production team.
• Managing the scrap yard so that scrap is offloaded in various areas of the scrap yard based on their physical and chemical properties.
• Managing staff members by ensuring that scrap that is oversized is cut to its appropriate size for easy input into the furnaces.
• A Certificate in an Metallurgy or Chemical field with Five (5) year experience working with waste scrap that is used in the steel manufacturing industry or;
• A valid track record showing experience of Seven (7) year working with metals that are used as raw materials in the steel manufacturing industry. An added advantage will be working in scrap yards.

This position reports directly to the Plant Foreman that has the extensive knowledge of running the entire operations of the steel manufacturing processes and will provide the necessary technical and other support required. Implementing these duties and working as a team with all the members of the scrap yard section, and the other supporting sections such as the laboratory and production teams are key responsibilities of the Metal Analyst.
